CHRISTMAS PARTY
On December 2, we'll once again return to the Radisson Hotel on Ann Street. A cash bar will be available at 6 PM, at 6:15 PM the Annual Meeting with the election of officers will take place, and dinner will start at 6:30 PM. The evening will conclude at 9:30 PM. The committee is hard at work planning fun and surprises. If you plan on participating in the ornament exchange, you will want to start deciding on what pattern you will want to do. We will again collect mittens, hats, and scarves for those in need. The menu choices are listed on the reservation sheet. (See your email or US mailed newsletter or the Sept-Oct issue on our blogspot for the reservation form.) While the original date for reservations was November 1, Alice R. has agreed to accept them until November 5. Please contact Alice to let her know your reservation is coming.
STATUS OF AM MEETINGS
Margie S. has written a thought provoking essay which she has asked be shared with you via the newsletter so that the questions she raises can be discussed by the chapter members.
For several years now, we've watched as attendance at the AM chapter meetings declined and attendance at the PM chapter meetings increased. Over this same period, the AM group has not had a program chair. Instead, the AM group has had a sign-up sheet where members volunteered to provide a program for each of the monthly meetings. This past September and October no program was provided and, as a result, only 5 members attended in September and 3 members in October. We're at a crossroads now and need to address what we should do about the AM meetings. Do we want to return to members volunteering each month to provide a program? Could we agree on a project (such as a Group Correspondence Course) that would carry us through 2011? Should we go to stitch-in status and remain at the church or rotate among homes? These are questions attendees of the AM meetings should think about and talk about with other members. Rather than watch the AM meetings dwindle to a painful end, let's take this issue in hand and make a decision about the direction we want to go in.
