JUNE 2012
NOTES FROM THE PRESIDENT'S DESK
It’s lovely this morning, and I’m enjoying the sunshine! It is refreshing to open windows, pick up some stitching and just listen to nature’s story.
Speaking of stories, I am an avid reader, and although I have favorite authors and genre, I will read almost everything from novels to a history on the space age. The problem I have is one many of us have…read or stitch?!
The new technology allows us to listen to a book AND stitch. Don’t you love multi-tasking?!! When I was driving to and from work, I would listen to a book on tape…my car is old, and I enjoyed quite a few books that I would not have been able to “read” otherwise. Now that I am retired, I haven’t listened to a book; preferring instead to have the book in hand. When I’m reading, I’m not able to stitch or watch television. However, I don’t get as much stitching done when I’m really into a good book.
Until now I hadn’t thought about rethinking the use of audio books. My life got busier than I expected it would after I retired, and I didn’t even think about using audio books. With the advent of Kindle, iPad, and various other devices, it looks like I’ll be making a visit to the various websites for books to “borrow” to “read”.
It’s wonderful that technology makes things in my life more enjoyable.
Now I can read AND stitch! Hope you find a way to “multi-task” sometime soon!
Happy Stitching!
